The idea is the same as the cover above it on this shelf: a U-shaped velvet case that arrives empty, packs flat and becomes a pillow when it is filled with your own clothes. What this one adds is hardware. Adjustable shoulder straps with proper fittings mean the stuffed pillow can be worn crossbody or over one shoulder through a terminal, or laid flat as a seat cushion — which is the difference between carrying a pillow full of jumpers and wearing a bag.

The zip runs along the middle rather than at one end, which is the better arrangement for filling: the whole length of the U opens at once, so clothes go in as a layer instead of being worked round a curve, and the zip tape ends up behind the neck rather than under the chin.

The capacity question is the one this whole construction turns on, and this page gives the same answer as the TUBE cover on this shelf — three days of travel essentials — against the five or more claimed by the cover above. None of the three publishes a volume, a dimension or a weight, and “days” is not a unit: it depends on whether you pack T-shirts or wool. Where two makers of the same thing say three and one says five, three is the figure to plan against. As for support, there is none by design: the introduction to this page compares pillows shaped to hold a head forward or to one side, and a cover takes the shape of its contents. The compensation is that it costs nothing in packed space, which is the other thing this hub compares.

What travelers ask

Three days or five?

This cover says three and so does the TUBE cover on this shelf; the NK HealthCare cover says five or more. All three are U-shaped velvet or synthetic covers that you fill with clothes, and not one publishes a volume in liters or a single dimension. There is no way to reconcile the figures from the pages, because "days" is not a unit of volume — it depends on the clothes and on the traveler. Where two of three makers of the same thing say three, the three is the number to plan against.

What do the straps add?

A second job. A stuffable pillow full of clothes is a soft bag with nothing to carry it by unless somebody fits straps and hardware to it, and this one is sold to be worn crossbody or over one shoulder, or laid down as a seat cushion. That matters in a terminal: the alternative is a pillow round your neck full of your own jumpers, which is the thing the makers of carrying cases for foam pillows advertise against.

Is a central zip better than an end zip?

For filling, probably. A zip that runs along the middle of the U opens the whole length at once, so clothes go in as a layer rather than being pushed round a curve from one end — and come out the same way. It also puts the zip tape against the back of the neck rather than at the chin, which is where it is least noticed. Neither this page nor its shelfmates say how long the zip is.
