Are suitcase wheels universal across brands?

No, wheel mounts are not universal. Axle size, housing shape and the attachment mechanism (screw-mounted versus snap-in) all vary between manufacturers, and often between different ranges from the same manufacturer — a wheel from one Samsonite range isn’t guaranteed to fit another Samsonite range, let alone a different brand entirely.

Some generic, universal-fit replacement wheels are sold specifically to work around this, using an adjustable mount designed to fit a range of common axle sizes, but these are a compromise fit rather than a guaranteed exact match, and can sit or roll slightly differently than the original wheel.

For the closest match, ordering the manufacturer’s own replacement part for the case’s exact model number remains the more reliable option over a generic universal-fit wheel, even though the universal options are often more widely available and cheaper.

Check with your airline and read the label before you follow anything here. Lithium battery watt-hour limits, liquids allowances and lock policies differ by carrier and by country, and change over time — the figures published by the airline or security authority you are actually traveling with take precedence over anything written on this site. A power bank or spare battery is carried exactly as its manufacturer and your airline specify, never estimated. We report what is published — a watt-hour rating, a size limit, a lock's official recognition — and this site describes the equipment only: nothing here is a guarantee about what a specific checkpoint will allow on a specific day.
