How many outfits do I actually need for a week?

Far fewer than seven full outfits. A set of around five tops and three bottoms that all mix together gives fifteen different combinations, comfortably covering a week without needing anywhere near fifteen individual pieces packed.

The key constraint is choosing pieces that genuinely interchange — a consistent color palette and similar formality level across the set, so any top can pair with any bottom, rather than pieces that only work with one specific matching item.

Laundry access, even informal (a sink wash overnight), extends this further, letting the same small set stretch to two weeks or more. For trips without laundry access, adding one or two extra tops rather than doubling the whole wardrobe is usually enough — bottoms show wear more slowly than tops and rarely need doubling for a week-long trip.

Check with your airline and read the label before you follow anything here. Lithium battery watt-hour limits, liquids allowances and lock policies differ by carrier and by country, and change over time — the figures published by the airline or security authority you are actually traveling with take precedence over anything written on this site. A power bank or spare battery is carried exactly as its manufacturer and your airline specify, never estimated. We report what is published — a watt-hour rating, a size limit, a lock's official recognition — and this site describes the equipment only: nothing here is a guarantee about what a specific checkpoint will allow on a specific day.
