Should I buy a hardside vanity case or a toiletry bag?

A hardside vanity case protects fragile bottles through structure — a removable tray keeps items upright and separated, so a case set down or tipped in transit doesn’t let contents shift and knock together. That structure is fixed, though: it takes up the same amount of space inside a suitcase whether full or nearly empty.

A soft toiletry bag compresses to fit around other packed items and, if it hangs, works better in hotel bathrooms without counter space. The trade is less structural protection — a wipeable interior lining contains a leak, but doesn’t stop bottles from shifting and knocking together the way a divided tray does.

For a varied collection of fragile bottles and a preference for permanent, structured organization, a vanity case is worth the fixed space it takes up. For flexible packing and hanging convenience in unpredictable bathroom layouts, a soft hanging bag is the more practical everyday choice.
