  • Publishes a suction figure — 6,000 Pa — which only this brand does on this shelf, and this is the higher of its two
  • Five to ten seconds a bag, the fastest published time here besides two three-second claims with no pressure behind them
  • Needs the pump, which means carrying it, charging it and still having it on the way home

There is one number on this shelf that tells you how well a pump works, and only one brand publishes it. Six thousand pascals here — about six per cent of atmospheric pressure, which is a travel pump rather than a laboratory one, and far more than you can see from a three-second seal claim. Five to ten seconds a bag, up to a hundred cycles from a USB-C charge, and no mains outlet needed.

The interesting part is the comparison with the same brand’s other set on this shelf, because the cheaper box is the better machine. This one: 6,000 Pa, five to ten seconds, a hundred cycles. That one, ten dollars dearer: 4,000 Pa, ten to fifteen seconds, ninety cycles. What the dearer set gives you is two more bags and bag dimensions published in inches rather than just the case size they are meant for. If the pump is what you are buying, this is the box.

The bags themselves are sensible: sixteen across three luggage sizes, eight for 20 in cases, four for 24 and four for 28, with a printed size label on each so you are not holding two up to the light at midnight. Thick PA+PE film, double-zip seals, and a valve the page calls triple-seal turbo — a trade description rather than a specification, and the component everything depends on.

Two gaps. The compression claim is “double your suitcase capacity”, which is a different unit from the percentages the rest of this shelf uses and cannot be laid beside them; and nothing says how long the valve holds or how many cycles the zip survives, which is the third thing the introduction to this page compares. One set on this shelf claims three months of seal, and it is the only duration figure here. Finally, the pump is the real cost of this mechanism: a palm-sized thing to carry, charge, and still have in your bag on the way home — which is what the advice at the top of this page is now about.

What travelers ask

What does 6,000 pascals mean?

How hard the pump pulls. Six thousand pascals is about six per cent of atmospheric pressure, so the pump is removing most but not all of the air — which is what a travel pump does, as against a laboratory vacuum. The reason to care is that nobody else on this shelf publishes the figure at all: three sets advertise a three-second seal and one publishes a pump weight, and none of those tells you how much air actually leaves. Of the seven sets in the American half of this hub, two publish a suction, and both are from this brand.

Why is this cheaper than the brand's bigger set?

Because it has two fewer bags, and that is the only respect in which it is worse. Side by side: this set is 6,000 Pa against 4,000, five to ten seconds a bag against ten to fifteen, 100 cycles per charge against 90, and USB-C charging stated. The dearer 18-bag set gives you two more bags and publishes its bag dimensions in inches rather than only the luggage size they suit. Same brand, same shelf, and the pump you would want is on the cheaper box.

What is a triple-seal turbo valve?

A trade description rather than a specification, and the part of the bag that decides everything. A vacuum bag holds its vacuum through the valve and the zip; the valve is the one-way port the pump pulls through, and "triple-seal" implies three sealing surfaces against backflow. Nothing on this page says how long it holds — one set on this shelf claims its valve keeps air out for at least three months, which is the only duration figure anywhere here, and this hub's third comparison is exactly how the seal holds up over repeated cycles.
